they lay
on the ground
under their once cozy nest
Did they fall?
Was it the wind?
What happened here
to these little ones?
My heart sank.
Silently,
I wait to see life
there was none
unforgiving as only nature can be
I gently scooped them up
acknowledging their presence
within this world,

moment.
